My mind wanders like a fleetly leaf,
carried by the wind;
dipping, thrusting, swirling.
Once here,
once there,
it never finds rest.
For a moment it reaches calm
in the shade of a mighty rock
or a towering tree,
until again, it's caught by another gust
escaping
through a crack
and off it goes!
Racing the landscape
seeing everything
but noticing
nothing.
Off, off it goes!
Afraid to be still,
afraid to rest,
always searching,
probing,
running, jumping
carried by a force
it cannot control,
cannot calm.
