My mind wanders like a fleetly leaf,
carried by the wind;
dipping, thrusting, swirling.
Once here,
once there,
it never finds rest.
For a moment it reaches calm
in the shade of a mighty rock
or a towering tree,
until again, it's caught by another gust
through a crack
and off it goes!
Racing the landscape
seeing everything
but noticing
Off, off it goes!
Afraid to be still,
afraid to rest,
always searching,
running, jumping
carried by a force
it cannot control,
cannot calm.
