Day 17 Monday, December 29, 1997San Diego - Pacific Ocean (San Diego)We stayed anchored up next to Anthony's last night, and awake this morning to a lot of noise and commotion. It turns out that they're having a big sports parade on Harbor Drive just next to where we are and everybody is coming here to watch. Having no particular interest in parades and even less in sports, I go to see the square sail ship Star of India, ...
... the steam ferry Berkeley, and the smaller steamer Medea instead. While away, the rest of the folks take the Sea Star back to the Police Dock and I meet up with them later using a taxi. Then, Ken, Ashikin, and I continue with the cab to the San Diego Zoo, where we spend about 4 hours (and USD 20). Back on the boat again we are joined by Ray's friend Eric Wogsberg, who will be with us until the New Year. Around 9 p.m., we cast off with destination Avalon on Catalina Island. Ashikin and I do the 2-4 a.m. shift. My fingers are aching more with a small amount of pus seeping out. I continue the topical antibiotic. |
