Day 7    Friday, December 19, 1997

Pacific Ocean (San Diego) - Ensenada

Ahh, finally some decent sailing weather! During the night, the storm eventually abates and we enjoy a sunny coastal cruise by the Baja California the following morning. On the way down, we meet another Force 50 going up. It turns out that they're on their way back to -- Alameda of all places. They've been out for a good 13 years, but it's finally time to go "back home" and celebrate Christmas with the grandkids.

We arrive to Ensenada around 3 pm and anchor up in the middle of the harbor.

We then call El Bandido's Water Taxi on VHF channel 6 and proceed to the immigrations office a few blocks down, all together. The official is quite friendly and the process is a breeze, but when we exit we're already too late for customs and the port captain. Oh well, it's Friday afternoon so Ray will have to come back on Monday and pay him a visit instead.

We then find an ATM and a withdraw MEP 400. After some strolling around, we stop by a corner liquor store to purchase some tequila and margarita mix. On the way back, we feast on fish and prawn tacos near the fish market. Back onboard, we mix margaritas and watch Captain Ron on video back. Ray finds this hilarious. I secretly suspect it's because it features the same boat he has.
