Time Passes

Time passes
ever so quickly.

A fleeting moment
is soon long gone.

What happened?
Where am I going?
Stop!

I want to get off
this swirling, twirling
roller coaster.

To smell the roses,
to pet a dog,
to watch this sunset
forever.

But I can't --
no one can.

All we can do
is pay attention
to every moment
and appreciate it.

It will never come back,
there is only one now.

Never you forget it.
Don't ever sleep
with your eyes open
(like I often have;
it's a sin).
